Northern Europe
This region includes Northern part of France, England, Dutch Republic, Nordic cities such as Stockholm, Oslo, and Baltic Sea area. Vikings prospered throughout this region until late 11th century. While England tries to expand their power over this area, Dutch Republic has geographic advantages.
Western Europe
This region includes Iberia Peninsula, Southern France, west area of Republic of Venice and Northern Africa. Most of cities prospered since ancient age thanks to great soil, sunny climates and Mediterranean Sea. Capitals of Portugal, Spain, and France are located in this region.
Eastern Europe
This region includes East Mediterranean Sea, Adriatic Sea, and Black Sea area. Until Ottoman Empire prohibited overland trade between Europe and Asia, this region played major role in connecting two continents. It was center of international trade and politics and most importantly religion.
Western Africa
This region includes Gulf of Guinea, Grain Coast, Ivory Coast and Gold Coast named after main trade products from this area. In early age of discovery, this area played important role as port of call for longer voyage to the East. The extensive trade of ivory and gold trade made this region wealthy.
Southern Africa
This region includes southern coast of Africa, Mozambique Channel and Madagascar. This region served as an important transoceanic trade port and Cape of Good Hope was a substantial milestone for many sailors. In the mean time, east coast of Madagascar was favorite place for pirates.
Eastern Africa / India
This region includes The Red Sea, Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean. Major ports are City of Spices Calicut, gateway to Southeast Asia Kolkata, Massawa and Muscut. Traditionally ruler of this region has changed many times from the ancient due to geographic location.
Southeast Asia
This region includes Indochina and thousands of islands between Indian and Pacific Ocean. A wide range of goods originated in this region, but spices such as pepper, nutmeg, cloves, and mace were most important trade items. The region served as an important part of world maritime trade system.
Oceania
This region includes Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, Polynesia, and many more islands. Famous clipper route was developed to bring many grain, wool and gold from Oceania to Europe at shortest time which fully utilizes fierce westerly wind of Southern Ocean.
Caribbean/Central America
This region includes Central America and Caribbean Sea area. Major cities in the region are Santo Domingo, Habana and Acapulco. Tobacco, coffee, cacao, peanut and pineapple were major trade goods from the region.
South America
This region includes Southern part of Americas. Major cities in the region are Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires and Lima. Gold and silver are major mineral resources. Sheep, cattle, alpacas and handcrafts were major trade goods from the region.
