Relationship towards nations
Improving relations with other nations will require a player to have an aide with the correspondence skill specific to the nation targeted. 
The more improved the relationship towards another nation will increase the quantity of trade goods which could be sold, allow cheaper prices, and lesser tax when selling trade goods or items.

On Alert +2%
Enmity +3% player may pay a bribe to enter the settlement.
Hostile 4% Hostile player cannot enter the ports of attacked nation; approaching the attacked nations waters may alert Navy. Player may pay a large bribe to enter the settlement.
Warring 5% Hostile player cannot enter the ports of attacked nation; approaching the attacked nations waters may alert Navy. Player may not enter the settlement.


2Changing relationship

Approach and click on the fleet of the desired nation. Make sure that your aide has the "Correspondence" skill to that nation. Once you have clicked on the fleet, the correspondence button will appear. If you prefer a negative relation, simply attack and defeat the flagged fleet of your enemy nation.

Be careful not to click on the attack button when corresponding.
Run away if you initiated an attack. This will prevent you form causing any negative relations.

To change nation, you must improve your relationship with the other nation you wish to request refuge with.
